I think Mr. Peeters is exhibiting a bit of anxiety himself — to wit: by repudiating the idea that the illusion of choice, or the idea of unlimited choice is has a pacifying effect on the human psyche (bear in mind, people could criticize the government in the comfort of their own homes, or in private in both the Eastern Bloc countries, and — as we’re seeing in the U.S. with the Occupy Movement), he wants people who look into this blog to be convinced of what *he* represents.

In the West, the use of unlimited choice as a way of instigation the “decisional fatigue” Kahneman describes in his book, “Thinking, Fast and Slow” allows an illusion of freedom while maintaining a populace that is docile. The atomizing force of “unlimited choice” and  its herald, “personal responsibility” in society allows for individuals to feel isolated, without purpose, and only identify with brands. To echo “Fight Club”: you aren’t your f*cking khakis.

Yet, that is what corporate culture attempts to do.

Apple has convinced all of us that it’s our buddy — that is, unless you’re a Chinese worker. . .

No. In fact a friend told me she had had this experience the other day. I don;t like the overwhelming choice. I am increasingly shopping in small local shops and ordering a veg box.
